July 2026 Overview

The July 2026 JPML report shows 203,915 pending actions across 162 active dockets. Pending cases grew by 1,786 from June (+0.9%). After a flat June, the panel returned to structural growth this month — centralizing four new MDLs and terminating one, for a net gain of three dockets.

J&J Talcum Powder (MDL-2738) led all gainers, adding 406 cases to reach 68,435 and remaining by far the largest active MDL. Close behind, Uber Sexual Assault (MDL-3084) surged +369 (to 3,940) following its first federal bellwether verdicts, and Depo-Provera (MDL-3140) continued its climb with +322 (to 5,830) in the wake of its June 15 global settlement in principle.

Other strong gainers included Social Media Addiction (MDL-3047, +229), Bard PowerPort (MDL-3081, +188), Hair Relaxer (MDL-3060, +154), and GLP-1/Ozempic (MDL-3094, +85).

On the other side, Bard Polypropylene Hernia Mesh (MDL-2846) shed 191 cases (23,573 → 23,382) and Taxotere (MDL-2740) fell 79 (282 → 203), reflecting continued settlement and resolution activity. The federal MDL system remains highly concentrated: the top 5 dockets account for 63.9% of all pending actions and the top 25 for 95.6%.
